What I meant was that they don't need to work hard...it just kind of happens. XFD
It's no Back In Black, Highway To Hell, High Voltage, Let There Be Rock, or For Those About To Rock, but I was surprised at how well it turned out for this far in the band's career and how well received it is.This Message Edited On 10.20.08

AC/DC is is the greatest band ever at making the same type of song over and over and over and over again!...My personal hell would be to listen to the entire AC/DC catalog all at once!...I'm sorry I even listened to this album with an open mind but the same riffs and chords over and over again just like they've been doing for 30 years makes me sick!...Sorry I know they are considered legends, but I just cannot handle this band!

I think many of you are being a bit harsh with the excess "rock and roll" thing particularly on "Rock n roll train" considering there is no mention of those words in the song and the original name "Runaway Train" was only changed to disassociate it from another song of a another band with the same name. Just thought i'd throw that in for anyone wondering why the title doesn't match the lyrics.
I also think that after more listenings you can find some variation from the classic ac/dc sound in Rock n roll dream, stormy may day and Anything Goes. Apart from that its just a solid range of hard rock songs that please fans. Obviosuly if you never liked ac/dc beforehand you wont like Black ice, but it is an improvement over the last few albums and those of the mid 80's. Remember they have always stated that they're a rock and roll band, even since Bon scott, and have never intentionally changed their formula of energetic up-beat rock music. And also remember it's unfair to compare anything to Back in Black...it's a classic (about the 2nd highest selling album ever) and musicians rarely produce another gem.
It's also pretty funny to read comments along the lines of "i like the old acdc such as black in black and for those about to rock" since the real "old" acdc sound comes from the Bon Scott albums (1974-1979, which imho are the best). Obviously people saying these things havnt really heard ac/dc to their full extent and base their opinions of the band solely on post Back in Black ac/dc songs.
p.s. I do think the lyrics on this album are in fact weak but the music is still solid. It's a little long but listen to it more and it may grow on you.

Incorrect, as you'll find fairly positive ratings of a few AC/DC albums from me.

In its own right, this album is very good. Pity its been written before by them already about 8 times by now.
But I've never had anything against AC/DC's work and probably never will.
Review's good though.This Message Edited On 01.10.09

That's the problem to begin with?

The fact that they have been making the same album since 1979 is definitely a cause for concern.

The fact that you include Highway To Hell and Back in Black in that list is far much more of a concern.

then how is it great?

Sure, this is bland rock and roll, but it still deserves a better score than a freaking Justin Bieber album, which you gave a 3! I guess your point of view makes sense if you base a score on whether the album is fresh enough to be worth buying, but some of the albums you rated higher than this are more bland and rehashed than this.

Anything Goes is probably the best song they've had in 15 years.

Nope, this is generic even by AC/DC standards. I still somewhat like Rock N' Roll Train and Black Ice though.

The only songs I can stomach on this are Rock N Roll Train, Anything Goes, Big Jack, and Skies on Fire.
