Yeah, it can be considered pretty up tempo in terms of funeral doom, but it's still really slow. I'm glad you like this bunit, it's such a good album.

lol me too, it took me a few listens to really start to grasp it, but now i've listened to it a few times, i really like the album, the only problem i have with it is march october just drags on a little too long for my taste, its just not enough variation in the song to actually make it interesting enough to listen to for that long stretch of time.

i share your sentiments exactly, it's like 3-4 minutes longer than all the other tracks and definitely weakens the album's flow

"lets cut like 3 mins off and it would be perfect"

I generally think the Finnish metal scene is an overrated piece of shit, especially when it comes to b.m but this is alright so far. For funeral doom, I love Shape Of Despair but I'm not sure if this will capture me the same way. It's kind of overbearing in some parts. I won't kick off yet but i'll see what happens.

shape of despair never got me the same way other bands did, plus all their stuff is in 6/8 it felt like a dance

Angels of Distress was really good, tbh. In terms of funeral doom, Finland is where it's at balls. Sure, there are some (heaps) of shitty bands, but all the big names are out of Finland.

I like Shape because of their clean sound. The instrumentals are very ominous and bleak + I could never really take guttural vocals very seriously in doom. I'll pound this into my skull because I try to listen to each metal sub genre as fairly as possible.

Check out that Colosseum album I reviewed then Balls, they're quite similar to Shape of Despair, you'd probably like them. Very clean.
|

Actually that, plus the new Mournful Gust record, which hopefully I can review before someone else, I kinda want to wait til December though because it sounds like christmas doom
|
| |
I'm actually writing a review for that right as we speak :P
|
| |
dammit...I guess I'll just review October Tide then
|
| |
Sorry man. my review is pretty shitty anyway, I'm doing another short one, so if you're thinking of doing a more indepth review, go for it.
|
| |
mm what are you rating it
|
| |
3.5.
Going down from my initial rating of 4, as it gets a little repetitive.
|
| |
eh, thats what I'd give it too, I'll just do october tide
|

Props on doing October Tide, underrated stuff. I'll check out Mournful Gust. I like the sound of christmas doom. This Message Edited On 10.30.08

I'm gonna do both October Tide records cuz no one knows them, and Rain Without End is essential death/doom in my humble opinion
|
| |
Haha, I don't know where you got christmas doom from fireabove :P
|
| |
I was listening to it during the first snow, and then I found out that TSO was coming back, and then the keyboard was playing a very christmasy melody so I shall dub thee christmas doom
