Every album released after this is better than this imo, even though it's mostly because none of them had something as shabby as "Hope" put in the middle of it..

I'd say this is better than Distant Satellites.

Distant Satellites is one of my faves, but that's because I have a strong personal connection to some of the tracks on there, specifically the opener and the title track. I can see why some people don't like it that much.

On a side note, Duncan Patterson has done an orchestral project called the "Eternity Suite", incorporating melodies of the three Eternity parts and other stuff from this album and Alternative 4, so anyone who likes this might bother to check it out.

I would like Distant Satellites more if it were more cohesive. It feels weird to randomly have 4 electronic tracks stuck at the end. Would have worked better as 2 separate EPs I think. I love the material though for the most part.

Yeah I also get that feeling from it, even though I think it kiiinda makes sense in a way, thinking of it like a satellite drifting off, starting with You're Not Alone. It's its greatest flaw though.

The thing about anathema is that they are trying so hard to be something totally different that they used to be

that they really sound annoying to me.Dying Bride had 34.788%, which was a really good record for me Paradise lost had Host which was also really good, but these ones still sound like Dying Bride or Paradise lost.

If distant satellites had different label Than 'Anathema'on it no one would ever notice an lp like this..a british -alternative-rock band wich desperately needs to sound like radiohead.

These guys seem to hate what they used to be

The only album that really sounds like Radiohead is A Fine Day to Exit as far as I can tell. And you don't have to hate something to move on from it. Even though Danny still seems to think that his song-writing on early albums was sub-par.

Every release after Judgment is desperate approach to sound like radiohead.

Song structure,production,musical approach even vocals.

Samael moved far away from where they started,The great Ulver moved really far away, wolves in the throne room moved on.Ofcourse it's ok to move on.This is the meaning of true evolution. But these ones kept their identity untouched and clear.

The new anathema have nothing to do with the old anathema.

Have you heard Sleepless live from the new Anathema?

Anathema should change their name i think. It would be more honest as artists.

Like Swordmaster which became Deathstats

Radiohead is a true talented experimental band that with every single album had something new to say.Anathema i think tried to do the same thing.

Every single album from Radiohead (good or bad) is interesting. This band took really risks on their sound (not just putting some electronics here and there).....Because ....they are radiohead. But anathema aren't......Radiohead

How do the vocals sound like Radiohead?

"The new anathema have nothing to do with the old anathema."

Yeah, I guess that's right. And they could have changed the band name, but I wouldn't know the exact point in their discography where it would have been fitting. The transition is very smooth imo.

It is how Cavanagh's voice 'stands' in songs not so how he sounds that reminds me Thom's voice.

Check out 'the bends' from Radiohead and especially how Thom Yorke sounds in the epic "Street spirit and then check how Vinnie's struggling to sound.

In Eternity his vocals are rough and hard, not so melodic but full of power and emotion

I totally agree with the review about Vincent's vocals in this one.

Eternity is far away from anathema's new stuff.

Oh God how pity for this band..

In this one we have a perfect match of doom and Floyd (listen the guitars how heavy they sound in eternity part 3 spitting melting heavy metal with these floydish keys and Vinnie singing and suffering

Born alone beneath pale sardonic skies

One love, one life, one sorrow

I won't reproach myself this time,

A condemned man, granted a sweet reprieve

A turn of fate, a genial twist of the knife

Undying affection for life

Or Eternity part 1 with its 'headbanging rhythm section

and vinnie's spitting vocals

A flood of tears bonding my soul with my mind

A dream of love, reality closing in behind

As I close my eyes, the vision dies

As I bid my last farewell to mankind

Even the instrumental eternity pt2 with Destiny Infity Eternity that if you read it downwards it says DIE for fuck'sake

And then put in A fine day to exit in your stereo...or a natural disaster....Shit,i used to love them man
