Most hardcore music is very structured actually.

Yeah, but if you don't get that, it can end up just sounding 'all over the place', which is what I thought at first. Then I realised that actually it fits perfectly. I think the reviewer must have had no idea about that, if you see what I mean.

I dunno he name drops plenty other bands who scream as well as saying he liked older Underoath.

But for the most part, older Underoath and the other bands he mentioned are slightly more obviously structured upon first listen. Doesn't stop him from being stupid, though, I won't try and say that.

I don't think this is a 1, but I do think it's a really boring album. Really bland on all fronts, vocals, song structure, instrumentation,...well everything really. Personally I don't find anything dynamic about this album and I find it hilarious that so many people bash metalcore as a genre, then praise this album, despite being static and uninspired.
They should have kept allowing Adam D to edit their song structures like he did with their previous albums, which many people find to be more enjoyable anyway.

^Er...what? This album and the last one are their most popular albums...

"^Er...what? This album and the last one are their most popular albums..."
...you mean their last one where Adam D edited a lot of their songs like I said?
And besides...if you read through the posts of all the reviews for this album, quite a few people prefer their older ones, despite liking this one as well.
And lol at you giving this album a 5...doesn't take much to impress does it?

Biased, arrogant,& bad written review. Don't rate an album a 1 just b/c you don't like it. I've only heard about ten legitimate 1's in my life. Too many people over-rate or under-rate albums. This album deserves no less than a 3.5.
I just came across this review and its honestly one of the most "fanboyish-biased" review I've read. Its sounds like youre just pissed that Underoath are no longer the same whiney screamo-core band they were a few years ago. I, personally thought that Define the Great Line was an incredible step forward for the band. DTGL and LITSOS still have some of those same aspects, but they are blended much better with the heavier sound. Im not a huge fan of the genre in general, but I think that Underoaths new take in the last couple of years is actually really well done and quite enjoyable.
Exactly.
Also, this album isn't for everyone. There's no insane guitars or bass, the drums are above average but nothing amazing, and while the vocals are better, they're still not amazing either. What makes this album so good is the musicianship & songwriting. The lyrics are great too. This Message Edited On 12.28.08

"Biased,arrogant,& bad written review."
I love it when people write stuff like this. Nothing says, "look at how stupid AND arrogant I am" like a sentence like this.
And yea...this album is a total snooze.
