Gave DtGL a spin. Not sure how I feel about it... as far as instrumentation goes, how different is this from that album?

but the drumming isn't as good as DTGL?

have you heard some of the immense fills he does? i admit some of the beats aren't as intricate but it's definitely better than DTGL's drumming.

Honestly, this sounds exactly like DtGL...so bland, I can't even finish it.

you must not have enjoyed DtGL then... plus it doesn't sound exactly like DtGL; it's similar, but not exactly the same by any means.

no in regard to it being 'exactly' like great line, but i do agree that aaron should make every attempt to drop the emo-oriented passionate singing. its become tired.

Deffenitly better than DTGL. This record (for the Spencer Era) features the least amount of clean singing. Aaron must be getting his fix of that from the ALMOST which is a good thing for underOATH's sake!

i thought the clean singing was well balanced in this cd with the intense ass screams. at least more balanced than their old shit, which had way too much.

at certain points i agree. at others he spins back into old habits and twists off whimpers at the end of each cadence.

only at those points am a disappointed with his approach.

On Anyone can dig a hole, The Only Survivor and We are the Involuntary they use Aaron's vocals effectively, but in songs like A Fault Line and The Created Void they are definately used too much making the song sound a bit whiney and annoying in parts. I guess less is more with Aaron's vocals. This Message Edited On 08.29.08

They have definately shed any of that screamo influence.. which is good.

well you shouldn't have made up your mind with how it would sound like before hearing it tbh. i listened to it without hearing anything the band said about it and in my honest opinion it is pretty extreme for this band. probably about as extreme as they'll get. everything has improved here except for the drumming.

Aaah. New album is much better than DtGL. Much more tasteful. Singer has improved his screaming voice a lot.
