They're obviously good. I've been forced to listen to the same song from this over and over, and the riffs are good. I don't think they're the insane shredders that people claim, but they're not bad by any means. I don't think they're really talentless or suck for any reason, I just dislike listening to them. Conflicting tsates I guess.

these guys are sooo full of themselves (read the interviews they were in.. they hate their fans, they think they are such amazin musicians and only care about banging groupies, drugs and drinkin') and i hate how there is absolutely NO screaming on this album, but the guitarwork is pretty damn good. eh.

you guys obviously don't know what you are talking about. This CD is wayyyyy better than WTF. And if you think City of Evil sounds like video game music, i'd like to see the video games you're playing. This Message Edited On 12.11.05

Yeah, the more I listen to WTF, the more I realize what a weak album it is.

"my favorite was bat country until it became #2 on Mtv."

You arn't allowed to listen to music anymore.

I won't lie I like this band a lot and I like this album... to a degree anyway. I don't think it's perfect and it's nowhere near as special as Waking the Fallen but it's a new direction and it turned out great for what it was supposed to be.

I think that Shadows hurts this album more than anything and not just because of the vocal changes. I like his voice on this album... I know I'm the only one who does but I honestly do. I think what hurts them is his new approach to writing these epic story-telling lyrics. He's just not as good at it as he is writing more heartfelt stuff. I can't be the only one who cringes a little reading the lyrics to Strength of the World.

Oh, has anyone else checked them out live lately? Shadows is screaming again! Not as strong as it used to be but it's a huge step up from hearing him sing his way through Second Heartbeat at Warped Tour... that was just embarassing.

Sorry for the double post but... why the fuck did I give this album a 5? That must have been after the first 1 or 2 listens when I was still trying to convince myself it was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

WTF is okay by metalcore standards, this album just plain [censorship].

I have only heard a few tracks from WTF, and they sucked. Majorly. That's why I'm saying City of Evil is way better.

Yo you cant possibly say that City of Evil is way better than Waking the Fallen if you haven't listened to the whole album... But anyways yeah this album is amazing, in my opinion. It's a huge difference from Waking the Fallen, and I guess with Shadow's "vocal disability" the band decided to take a step in a different direction, and i have to say they did pretty good. Not as good as WTF, which might be in my top 10 favorite albums, but I really like this change of style in City of Evil. I love the screams in WTF, but i really like the harmonized guitar/voices in COE and i think A7X did a great job on this.

Bat Country isn't the only song on the cd. I personally like Strength of the World and Burn It Down much better.

The only songs i really like are Trashed and Scattered (which is easily their best song i have ever heard) and the beast and the harlot. The rest is kinda repetitive and i cant tell one song from the other. I also like chapter four but thats not on this album.

It is a little repetative, but Strength of the World sound nothing like, say, Bat COuntry.

Great album, Great band!
I have never heard of this band before but when i heard Bat Country I looked into the band and got their new cd and i love it. I really like the Heavy Metal and Punk twist. Also I love their acoustic songs.
