Your right it has "EPIC" written all over it. These guys are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. I was thinking of getting either 6DOIT or Train of Thought next, any suggestions?

Get Images and Words. It's a magical album. Awake is really good too.

My bad, get Awake then. It's probably their most consistent album. Yes, even more consistent than SFAM.This Message Edited On 02.19.09

Awake is more easily digestable for someone just getting into the band but if he already has already heard this and "Images and Words" than he might as well go with 6DOIT. The second disc makes that album.

I see your point but we wouldn't want him to miss out on dt's darkest and most mature album! Plust I think you have to experience all of Moore's work before moving onto anything else.

They should have taken turns blowing Moore if it would have kept him involved with the band. When he left, quite a bit of the "classy" aspects left too and we were left with a lot of over-indulgence (albeit enjoyable). Basically, I can't argue a flawless point like the one you just made... get Awake!

Sorry to interrupt in the conversation here, but I do agree get Awake. Definitely the easiest to like right off the bat. Then Scenes. 6DOIT can definitely turn some people off, though. Personally I think The Glass Prison is that double albums saving grace. The title track gets all wussy and stuff and The Great Debate is a shameless Tool rip-off. So yeah, dont go to 6DOIT til a bit later lol ok? Im not saying its bad or anything, but..naa.

What's wrong with a few "wussy" parts? I think the title track to 6DOIT is their best long song. I can listen to the whole thing, which I can't say about Scenes... (on Scenes I usually stop it after "The Dance Of Eternity"). What part of The Great Debate has anything to do with Tool?

Yeah I don't get the Tool connection. And the second disc to 6DOIT is awesome imo. Prog done right. Exiting, complex, but not over the top.

6DOIT is let down by some average parts on the first disc, really

Agreed. And although Glass Prison is a good song, I think it's way overrated by dt fans.
