Good nu-metal:

Fear Factory (more extreme metal but)

Fear Factory = Not close to nu metal.

Korn technically is pre-Nu Metal aka Funk Metal

Original Mudvayne is Mathcore

Fear Factory = some good stuff, the rest noise

Limp Bizkit = not good enough to even be called metal

and System Of A Down is more (controlled) Chaos Metal most of the time then Nu-Metal

Cravinov, enough with the subgenres, God. All these bloody "core" genres, and "pre" and "post."

These are some of the only terms people should use: hard rock, progressive, alternative, metal, nu metal, heavy metal, industrial, death metal, thrash, and that's mostly it. Of course there are others, but having words like "metalcore" is just ridiculous.

^^ Those terms can be used by people who don't a lot about music, and that's fine, but I like to get into deep classification, live with it.

why do you guys feel the need to label SOAD's music style? i mean, i can understand it for organization purposes, but honestly SOAD is a little of everything. A lot of their stuff resembles Thrash Metal as opposed to Nu-Metal. Plus there's some rock and roll and Hardcore elements as well, i mean, just say that SOAD is awesome or not. Dont base a band on the genre that people prefer to call them.

That's basically what I'm trying to say. The terms I mentioned are just for reference, but they have no true meaning. Music is music, and I think that overcategorizing dimishes an artist's striving to be unclassifiable. A lot of the time when people ask me what I listen to, I just say "rock, trip hop, electronica, stuff like that."

Some people though (and not necissarily you) can't calssify music in even the simplist of categories.

I disagree. Daron's voice is so bad by itself that I'm sure plenty of people can sing better (or at least more pleasantly) than him.

Not that his voice doesn't fit well with Serj's. They're a perfect match when it comes to singing in harmony, but Daron by himself is just... ugh.

I'm gonna have to disagree with everyone who says Serj has the best voice ever, i find his voice annoyingly unstable and just flat out silly at times. When he really belts stuff out it's a sound to behold, but when he does all that semi-opera shit it just sounds like he's trying to make people laugh.

His voice is very great, if you want to hear annoying, go to billy talent or beduin soundclash.

anyways, i think that the band has its moments in the sun with several songs. They arent all perfect, but they do their best. drummer is good, and i like the simplicity and creativity of the guitarist

I find Serj's voice overrated...and annoying, to be frank. Not the greatest band or album.

I find that this music, after listening to it for many months, is actually pretty mediocere and boring as hell. I miss the old days of SOAD. :sniff:

but the key to keeping the music alive is not to overplay it. but still if u left it alone for say... a year, u would love it again and find it classical
