I'm not going to get into this too much because opinions differ but I think that By The Way is very much an album the Chilis can be proud of. I don't see why people don't like it.

I think this album is somehow amazing. I generally like all theire music but I guess this is my favorite.

And when I hear it from the start to the end, owmost whatever emotional stade I'm in, I allways end up in this sad, melancoly, but somehow faithful (not religious) and comfotet feeling.

That must meen something!

(dont know how to do that quote thing)

i get that same thing. the album flows a lot better than some of their other stuff. the pieces connect in a more meaningful way

The chilis have matured on this album and have come up with some truly great songs. Cant stop, this is the place, by the way and minor thing are awsome! there are a few songs which are a tad dull at times but theres so many good songs here that it doesn't really matter.
Great band great album. 4.5/10
p.s. look out for stadium arcadium, 25 songs!

Can't Stop has got to be one of the Chili Pepper's best funk songs, at least since Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Awesome guitar riff and intersesting vocals make this an amazing song.

Okay, okay, not their best album by any means, but it was still pretty good, i particularely enjoyed Don't Forget Me, but if nothin else works for you on the album, Flea is still the best bassist ever

I loved this album, and i reckon it's really consistent , no terrible songs that should've been left out. not all the songs are hits, but some songs rule, like Don't Forget me, Midnight, Thow away your television, on mercury, and my personal favourite on the album, tear (are there any other chili pepper songs with a piano in them?).

this album has a lot more sad songs about drug addiction and all that stuff. Its the chilis darkest moment and it has some of my favourite chili songs on it.

ps. cant wait for stadium arcadium listen to `danni california` on `red hot chili peppers.com`... It rulesThis Message Edited On 04.08.06

Yeah, I think this is far better than Californication. Californication had some fantastic (read "brilliant") songs, but then there was absolutly shite tracks too (I Like Dirt, anyone?).

This album is just great throughout and really quite beautiful. A lot of the tracks do sound like the same song, but I don't care because it's a good song!

i accidently clicked no...i dont know why this is one of the most accurate reviews ive ever read on any style of music good job on this. i especialy agree with you on the review of throw away your television because although its very enjoyable i would group it with songs like...i like dirt, or theyre red hot. Its strange its like absoloute program music...its like giving a message without a goal...its just fun

someone said that he don`t like this album because it`s too melodios and not funky enough.
You can say that, it`s ok, but the sentence that you wish, that they will never release another album makes me really angry.
i mean i think you are a very little not thinkin guy without any inspiration or feeling for the art as something great and magik.
Nobody can judge over human beings and say taht they never should release another album.
This album by the way has soul and groove wonderful sad melodies and psycodelic tracks.
But there`s also funk in it.
It`s not a original funk record, but if they had releaesed another californication or blood sugar sex magik it would be boring.
The name of this album is "by the way" and it sounds like it.
It`s a work four individuals who turned in their way of life and their idea to create this album.
A band who`s makin the same music every time is dead, is nothing special.
i think of bands like linkin park or good charlotte.
if you hear tracks of them you could say oh yeah i like this tune, but its getting boring cause it`s all the same on every album.
Now to the ones who dislike by the way because theres not the motherfuckerfunkexplosion sound like in other tracks.
a change is gonna come and thats very important for musicians and theit music.
if you don`t want to grow and make things different like in the past, you are dead.
I mean with by the way these guys create a new way of their funk, with lot of melodie and soul.
sometimes sad and psycedelic but great.
I love by the way for it`s melodies and the surprise of another kind but chili sound in the same way like i love blood sugar for it`s funky rap style and sex explosion and californication came out of nothing nobody expected something like this because it was so different to the oldschool funk.
Who say he don`t like the chili peppers because of a new more poppy stuff, and don`t see the art and the individuality inside of it is a very poor man....

this album annoys me. I enjoy RHCP but I can't get past the fact that, to me, the only songs that DON'T sound the same are By The Way and Can't Stop. Everything else just melds together into one long rhyming album, which no matter how good it is, isn't nice because there isn't the variety that some of their other cds have. Disappointing at most...
