I guess Heartbeat ruined this album's reputation or something, because other than that this rules hard and has the expected crazy good KC moments

shamefully still haven’t checked despite KC being my fave ‘70s prog band’…
Poor decision making process on my part, me thinks

Na... You didn't miss that much. And I am saying it despite KC being one of my top 10 all time favorite bands. But if you bother, check Neurotica, by far the best song on this album!

Album is full of gems.

Fripp's solo in Two Hands sounds like bird chirping and I mean it in the best way. Such a comfy song.
Neurotica is an obvious highlight but I find the album is pretty stacked

Yeah, this is a very good album from the band. But it's my least favourite album of their trilogy, "Discipline", "Beat" and "Three Of A Perfect Pair".

While absolutely not terrible, it definitely is my least favorite album of their whole discography.
Which would be your least favorite album their discography?

This is also probably my least favourite studio album of the band too.
But, if we include their live albums, it's "Earthbound". It's a very aggressive album that was recorded in very difficult circumstances. It seems the recordings were captured live on an ampex stereo cassette recorder in the rain and from the back of a Volkswagen truck. Besides that, Fripp had decided to dismember the band, so there were some dismotivation and tension. Finally, the line up on the album is probably the weakest of all King Crimson's career. So, we have here the perfect seeds to be a failure work. Still, the live version of "21st Century Schizoid Man" isn't bad at all and and the live version of "The Sailor's Tale" is very good.

Mate, Earthbound sounds like a late 80s black metal live bootleg, I agree. But the 21st century schizoid man version in my opinion is their best ever! That alone is such a redeeming factor...

I agree, Don. But the album isn't only that great version.

true, but that version alone makes it better then (IMO) more middling live albums like b'boom and better than Beat.
But yeah, still far from being among their greatset live albums
