Now that I think about it, The Leper Affinity is my favorite metal song of all time.

Yeah, that's proof that Opeth is for more than just metal fans. I've actually gotten a girl who listens to pop punk to listen to Opeth. And she LOVES them.

I love Ghost Reveries, should i get this?

Yeah, this album is miles above Ghost Reveries.

The first two songs and Harvest are good. The rest is pretty boring.

Ok, I don't seem to be getting really into this stuff. I find the instrumentation great, but I just, I dunno can't get into the flow.
I have a lot of the PowerTab files for this album (I don't really play guitar that much, I just like to read the music, sometimes I get pretty good ideas for rhythms I write for other musicians at school), anyway and as I said great instrumentation, great album, but something which just doesn't get me to keep on listening to it...
So I ask do I just keep trying out this album or should I move on? Get something else ie. Ghost Reveries etc...?

Third Opeth album I heard and this is what made me like Opeth them most. I simply can't describe it.

Go from this to Still Life. It's the natural progression.

Opeth albums in order of discovery: Damnation, Blackwater Park, Deliverance, Still Life, My Arms, Your Hearse (don't own it), Ghost Reveries, Morningrise (don't own it either but what I've heard is okay. As for Orchid, all I've heard is what they have on iTunes. It's a little too Iron Maidenesque for my taste, but iTunes only has 30 samples of huge song, so I'm sure there are some great parts.

I'm really into "The Funeral Portrait" right now. The opening riff is quite awesome.

Listening to this for the first time in awhile.

"Bleak" has the best soft midsection of the whole album, and the clean singing especially is wonderful. While it's my current favorite here, "The Leper Affinity" and "Blackwater Park" will always reign supreme.

Harvest is pretty close to perfection.

I think I'm the only one who actually likes "Dirge for November." The ending riff just floored me the first time I heard it. I actually find "Harvest" to be the weakest track on here, it's just too plain for my tastes.
