The cd I almost bought the other day in stores but subsided for Nattens Madrigal had the red cover. I have since then lost my entire cd case.

Mine is the opposite. But yah this artwork > previous.

tbh i dont really know which type of agalloch i prefer. i only have marrow of the spirit and like what i've heard of it. but i wanna get their best album. as long as mantle has a decent amount of metal im sure ill like it. as far as "folky" metal goes im not much a fan of neurosis' eye of every storm, if that can be compared. too slow and boring for me. but i like atmosphere.

i don't get why the mantle is considered to be anywhere near this album

perhaps. the mantle is still pretty great and i like pale folklore even more, but for me this is practically twice as good as either of them

We're never going to agree Beelzebitch!
haha
but srsly tho, Fire Above, Ice Below
minty, the mantle isn't really comparable to neurosis (though i personally love that album). it's more folk in the neofolk sense where there is a lot of acoustics playing folksy melodies over electric guitar riffs. it's got a great atmosphere for sure, but it's lacking something that this one has. the atmosphere and production on this are just perfect

i'm really not sure where the comparison of the eye of every storm and the mantle are coming from
