Should have just released Paradise Circus and GILY as a double A-side and deleted the rest from existence

Imagine listening to Pray For Rain or Splitting the Atom lurch along and pretending to care

in all honesty tho i think both this and heligoland get too much flak... this is by far the weaker of the two and my 4 is def a high round up. i just loooove special cases thru prayer for england

This might lack a bit of colour (though there is an argument for music being monochrome in an effective way). Heligoland however lacks life. Almost agressively listless and flat in its execution

Gonna be cringe and repost a comment I made elsewhere, cuz it sums up my feelings on these two records:

Heligoland is a clusterfuck banquet of a bunch of exotic ingredients that weren't cooked well and don't mesh

100th Window is a nine-course meal where each dish is comprised of the same few ingredients, but cooked just right and arranged uniquely each time

I get the sense that Heligoland is a 'richer' album, but so many of the songs are just dead on arrival for some reason

this is completely devoid of any colour whatsoever, and there is no argument for it being monochrome in an effective way. the standouts on heligoland have more life than this entire album combined. this is more consistent than heligoland tho, granted. consistenly mediocre. heligoland might be massively up and down but at least it fucking has ups.

lol 100th window is a nine-course meal where each dish is fucking celery.
