I hear slight instances on this album where you could argue black metal, but thats about it.

This could easily become a 5 if the album has this much of an effect on me a while from now. SOOOOOOOOOO good. Especially the start of "As Rome Burns".

I feel that the black metal influence is quite apparent. You should check out their earlier releases, like "A Journey's End which is pretty b.m to me. This album rules. ^^^ This album's been spinning on my player for months and never tires.

There definately is a black metal influence. But you still cannot call this black metal.

The only song on here that feels like b.m. to me is "Traitors Gate". But hey, I fucking hate genre wars.

This album is just simply incredible. The irish folk influence on the album makes me want to go back to Ireland! This Message Edited On 04.09.08

Well..yeah. "I am my fathers son.. his deeds cannot... be undone"". That's pretty much the greatest lyric I have ever heard.

All the lyrics are amazing. Just like every other aspect of this album.

Kind of surprised you didn't enjoy this AngelPhoenix. Seems like this band is your style.

The music as well as the lyrics (which is rare) make me want to go fight a battle.

I honestly think Moonsorrow spoiled everything else that attempts to be epic for me lol.

But I will give this another couple of listens soon.

Primordial is better than Moonsorrow and they're certainly less corny.

Moonsorrow kind of drags things out a bit. There is epic, and then there is "please, please get to the point" long.

Better? Your opinion. Corny? Fuck off.

.

That's a good point. I don't mind, but I can see how some would prefer their attention to be automatically engaged rather than having to force it.

Yea, I do not have any problems with song length, or long intros (Take the first track of Enslaved's "Eld", for example), it is just that once Moonsorrow finally get going, lots of the energy they had been building just gets lost over time.

Agreed . Even this album has some repeditive parts that would seem like its dragging, but its all rewarding in the end.
