Album is alright, but it kinda loses focus and tends to ramble at points. That, and nothing, aside from Videotape which is fantastic, really stands out at all. Overall though, I enjoy it more than other Radiohead I've heard (except for Karma Police which is one of the coolest songs ever).

Oh and it's between this and the Pax Cecilia for most overrated album of the year. This Message Edited On 12.07.07

Hmmm.... good review, but do you really think that classic albums need a "standout track"? I think that's weird, cos standout tracks often bog down the overall quality of an album, they make it less consistent, because other tracks often seem pale in comparison (Maggot Brain!!!). In fact, I like a lot of my favorite albums because they keep a consistently high standard throughout their playing time (Fun House!!!).

That's not true at all. Kid A is definitely not made worse by the ridiculously good tracks like Everything in its Right Place, How to Disappear Completely, and Motion Picture Soundtrack. On the contrary, all the songs are excellent, and those three are standouts. Here, all the songs are merely solid, but there's nothing to elevate it to classic status.

Reckoner is the standout track on this by a mile.

^I think Reckoner's the second worst track behind Faust Arp =/.

I would have reviewed the second disk alone.. because it's not a double album.. they've stated this before.

I liked this review but ugh, I could not disagree more with your bit about a stand out track. I mean, I think there isn't one on this album really, but that only makes the album stronger instead of weaker. And then "Street Spirit," the standout track from The Bends? No way.

Fake Plastic Trees is the Bends stand out. Also Kid A doesn't really have one either. It's a really forced point and doesn't stand up to much scrutiny. The only album where it works is OK Computer and even then not everyone thinks Paranoid Android is the choice pick.

What makes you right and me wrong? It's just an opinion, and my point is that In Rainbows doesn't even have one to pick, while I can confidently pick one from my favorite three Radiohead albums.

'Course it isn't, but that's because the other tracks on Kid A aren't significantly worse (I don't wanna argue on which are the best here). When I'm talking about a "standout track", I'm talking about a single track that is like way better than the others, not an "arguably better" one, if that makes any sense.

What he said. Your point that there is no stnad out tack here but there is on the other albums is dumb but there is virtually no consensus of what that stand out track is particularly on Kid A, The Bends and Amnesiac.

Still, that wasn't my point. When I think about OK Computer or The Bends or Kid A, I think about those songs (admittedly, there are others), but when I think about In Rainbows, I think about the overall atmosphere.

What are you talking about.

Those are my standout tracks for each of the albums. I didn't talk about forcing it on everyone else.
