Trying would be the right word.

I like what Darkest Hour does. But the "core" elements are still present. Especially in their verses.
only some verses, actually. This Message Edited On 08.20.07

Just so everyone knows I'm half kidding around. Hopefully the summary for the Darkest Hour review will indicate that.

And you actually know what you're talking about. god, you went from dumb kid to pretentious mix between Dargon and Crav except without knowledge that either of them have.
FFS dude, you're not elite+you probably dont even know as much as I do. At least I don't make ridiculous statements that hold no ground because I think it'll make me look smart. You just look dumb when you say stuff like "The Red Chord is death metal" or "BTBAM has no death metal whatsoever" or what you just said about Darkest Hour.

Well it doesn't matter if they were metalcore first...As I Lay Dying is now leading the way and by far the most popular with fans and upcoming bands. Meaning they are influencing more people. which means a lot of bands try to copy them or take influence from them which means they are the current metalcore god. i repeated my self like an idiot there...oh well.

Protest The Hero seems to be the god, in my eyes. But As I Lay Dying are very, very popular it seems.

I wouldn't say Protest the Hero are strictly metalcore though.
masscows, stop having a go at Hbp. I would be more swayed to agree with him over Darkest Hour being more melodeath on Deliver Us than metalcore.
I don't sniff many breakdowns on this record.
On topic, I'll be rating this a 3.5 tomorrow. It's enjoyable stuff, just gets old quick.

I never said Deliver Us had core. I kept saying it didn't. Their earlier stuff is definitely metalcore though.

Agreed. I really enjoy Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation.

yeah, even though at the time it was pretty groundbreaking it's so overshadowed by how alot of bands improved upon their ideas.
They're finally getting better recognition with Deliver Us now, which is cool.

Yeah. The latter half of Deliver Us is badass, especially Stand and Receive Your Judgment. This Message Edited On 08.20.07

Confessed, I agree.
Protest incorporate a lot. Punk and metalcore. A lot to say the least.

What? Frail Words Collapse was atrocious.

Frail Words had about 4 good songs and about 5 different rhythms.

Deliver Us is not far from average to be honest. If it is indeed Melodic Death Metal (which I'm beginning to doubt), then it's really bad and over-polished, and reaks of core remnants/influences. There are some good songs on that album such as Tunguska. But that's really besides the point. This record is fairly enjoyable on a few tracks, but they fail miserably on others, like the first half of the album is not good, save Forsaken maybe, as it has an enjoyable riff further into the song. This Message Edited On 08.20.07

It was a good album, far better than the other 2, though the other 2 have more memorable tracks.
So a 5 rating seems fitting?
When you're an AILD fanboy, yes.

I'm still on a 2.5.
The album just hasn't grown on me like I thought it would.
