"This album is all out brutality, yet it has the flexibility to support melody and atmosphere without sounding forced or frankly, bull kaka. "

'From Beyond' by Massacre is bland album that has aged very badly.

Released during death metal's peak year, this is some of run-of-the-mill music. The riffing is generic, the drumming is pedestrian, we have laughable 'solos' courtesy of Rick Rozz, and little to no variation in the songwriting.

The lineup includes all former members of the legendary 'Death.' You'd think they could put something better together, but these guys were just Chuck Schuldiner's backing band. Bill Andrews did nothing memorable on the kit during his tenure with the band. He was significantly worse than Chris Reifert with his best drumming being on mid-tempo album 'Spiritual Healing.' Terry Butler was just a background bassist and Rick Rozz of course, played the shittiest solos ever. The only real props I can give are to Kam Lee for his wicked screams.

The corny, salmom pink cover pairs well with this mediocre album.
