Oddly enough, I actually started Neurosis with this album. I wasn't sure what to think about all those repetitions (Don't crawl, 10 times?), but by the time the title track came all the way through, I knew this was special.
Anyone who thinks war is glamorous should be required to hear this album, while restrained if they resist. Put down those nuclear war films and listen to this. It has to be pitch-black around you, and should be listened to very sparingly, on days where you're overwhelmed or have gone through excruciating pain. Even then, use with discretion - it will bite you. Hard.
I don't remember the exact order from there, but I think Enemy of the Sun was next, then Storm, Rising, Grace, and Never Sets.

I wonder what kind of effect the bassist is using, as the bass is inhumanly low, especially during the part where the title track gets going. Also one of Neurosis' best songs.
Haven't heard Times of Grace yet. Is it anything like this or A Sun That Never Sets?

They are kind of the same but are very different at the same time. A Sun that Never Sets is their most psychedelic album if that helps.

Cool, if it's somewhat similar to ASTNS I'll probably enjoy it. I have heard one song or two from it though and I have an idea that it's more mellow than some of their other albums. I might be wrong though.

Either way, I know if you enjoyed this, you will most likely love everything by this band.

Good to know And when I say mellow in context with Neurosis it means that mellow Neurosis is still heavier most bands of course. Oh and will check out ToG soon.

The Eye of Every Storm is their lightest album but still packs a punch!!!

Yeah that album is quite immense, one of the first I heard and probably in my top 2. Bridges is amazing.

The simple snare rhythm throughout puts me into a trance. Also a good album if you enjoy the gaunja!

haha I don't feel the need to expand my music experience through narcotics. Let the music speak for itself, not the drugs.
