Just to let you know, the 2.9 rating for this album is absolute bullshit

probably a little low because people are desperate for them to be the band they were, not the band they are

This review sucks!
Why can't people just admit that Corgan has lost his edge.
Even the few well written songs he manages to come up with are ruined by his vocals which ever since Adore have been pathetic and humiliating.
Are the stupid fans he has left deaf?
Can you not hear how dull and devoid of any emotion his vocals became after Adore?
Can you not hear how he can't even hit the notes in Zeitgeist?
He whines his way through Zeitgeist with a lisp and a drawl.
Songs like Pomp and Circumstance and even the title are just plain gay - admit it!
I am a huge Pumpkins fan but I'm sorry (and in your heart you'll agree) - this latest abortion is not the Pumpkins.
Corgan is obviously a changed man - have you heard him preaching about God on Twitter? What is he, a minister?
Zeitgeist = church and politics from boring Corgan.
Abandon this man now before he obliterates all the good memories we have of the Pumpkins

Probably my least favorite Pumpkins album with Gish but it's not bad it just lack alittle bass. I think Machina is one of the greatest records ever made I don't understand why no one else thinks so?

I think so. Machina is amazing, I don't care what anyone says. It was a grower for me- it has a lot of texture and a unique atmosphere - just like all the pumpkins albums, really.

I seriously think Machina is underrated -

as for zeitgeist, the first 5 songs are great, but from track 6 onward (c'mon lets go excluded) things get a bit bland. the closer is a little dull too, which is sad because their other albums have great closers.

on reflection I should probably change my rating to a 3,

I found myself enjoying this album more and more as time went on.

Lots of strong tracks and btw the drumming from Chamberlain is absolutely amazing.

haha, in my opinion this album shows just how much James Iha and D'Arcy meant to the Smashing Pumpkins. Billy Corgan is so terrible nowadays. Anyone hear about his next release under the SP moniker? Tearygarden by Kaleidyscope? haha! Next one won't even have Jimmy Chamberlin behind the kit. Epic failure on the horizon.

Anyways, best songs here are Bring the Light and... don;t bother with the rest imo.

Review is spot-on. This is a solid, hard rock album.

WOW, Billy can use the word Zeitgeist! Wow, Zeitgeist! Zeitgeist! So deep this album must be if it's called Zeitgeist! Utterly amazing Billy, such a deep guy who can name his solo album, er, I mean, his bands album Zeitgeist. If it's called Zeitgeist it must be really deep and introspective and just absolutely brilliant. How can it not be with a title like Zeitgeist? Have you ever noticed that a lot of people these days try to sound deep and educated by using the word zeitgeist?

Billy is a hack, like the masterminds behind Radiohead, who try and make their effortless ability to produce what they produce seem so much more profound and evolved then it actually is. I swear that Corgan could probably release an album of riffs for another Smashing Pumpkins record in a week. A one note act that was fresh in the 90's but hasn't much to offer once duplicated again and again, but Corgan will never be attune to this fact and will continue to release what he sees as something new and prolific because he is utterly self-obsessed. Zeitgeist.

miss a lot the old pumpkins but they're back!, this is what billy should had been released after mellon collie instead of adore, the new generation requires a more specific sound and billy is the chosen one to put on practice how the rock of the 90's really feel when you missed that decade

This is pretty good actually. As Alternative Albums go, the strength of the drums and the decent arrangements make this entertaining.
