it is time for TOP RANKING
love love how those verses give you the full "they let a girl sing on In Rainbows???" treatment and the chorus comes in all "oh no no no this is a perfect pop song now"

have a good rep and apparently still play heavily from this/Misery (from a recent report) - would go! will probably be playing a handful of new songs too

Same. You asked my Q and Johnny's response is music to my ears
I don't know what the new one will be like, but if they still gives us a few cuts from here / Misery I'll be a happy bunny

Sit Down For Dinner is rather good. It (probably) won’t touch the holy trinity (including ‘Penny’ because it’s under-appreciated) but a very refreshing return to form after Barragan. I’ll take it!

Listening to Sit Down For Dinner for the 3rd time, it has a really good vibe, wasn’t expecting this after Barragan. Resembles Misery in many ways, probably somewhat weaker, but not even close to 23 or Melody. If they would play in my area, wouldn’t hesitate for a minute to check them out live.

I will definitely do that, assuming they still have tickets

Revisting this album after finally listening to Sit Down For Dinner and now I am falling in love with this band all over again. It's been at least ten years since I have listened to this album but it holds up quite well.

New one took a few spins to sink in but I’m digging it, it sags a bit in the middle (tracks 5-7) but the opening and closing runs are great.

yeah, I definitely enjoy it. A slow burner in most respects.
6th fave BR or something

I think 7/10 of these songs could have a legitimate claim to being in my top three here, which is causing me the most beautiful of headaches… I need to rank them!
Silently through Top Ranking is a ridiculous run. The opening pair is the perfect introduction. The Dress is the ‘8th’ so that just leaves Spring and by Summer Fall / My Impure Hair (think the former may be my new pick for ‘least good’ - yet it certainly ain’t bad).

My Impure Hair is top 2 here wtf
Absolute nightmare album to rank for sure, but Heroine and Spring/Summer are pretty consistently my least favs - maybe Sw is around that zone too (hits *great* in sequence but not one I return to much otherwise)

Spring/Summer is an oddball here for being more dynamic and having a standard alternative rock sound, but it is definitely among the top 3 for me here. It brings back their Sonic Youth-ey sound (Goo era) and that’s not at all a bad thing.

Probably why it’s my least fave, BR were better once they dropped the SY stuff imo, not that they didn’t go interesting places with it at times. Just here, it’s not really what I want.
but yeah nothing here is bad, My Impure Hair is still rock solid even though it’s not a highlight. Spring and Summer is the closest to a ‘dud’ yet I wouldn’t call it that either

Last time I had this many fave tracks (on one album) and I was picking apart the remaining ‘purposefully trying to find fault’ it ended in promotion… so we’ll see where this leads!

a discovery a couple days ago is that there are many good live videos on youtube of this band from a lot of eras--1996, 1999, this era, most recent, everythang!
