I like Prometheus a lot. But this totally is my second fave, it's super unique.

Prometheus is really similar to what Ihsahn would be doing with his solo stuff some time after.

But Futures I agree wholeheartedly with:

"this is excellent. super different from nightside and anthems so i understand the lower rating but this rips. love the more technical dm/thrashy riffs at points. first 4 songs are great, first 2 are top tier emperor. and i love ihsahn doing a king diamond lol"

sweet trif was waiting for you to chime in haha. needs more than 6 pages! this is a great one. definitely really unique feeling with the genre hopping riffs and even some solos! haven't heard bm quite like this. really stood out to me. and i wish ihsahn did more king diamond vox!

Hehe, yeah, glad I was expected!!

Totally agree, yes. This one is so cool and I wish there was more in this vein out there. It's 100% my thing.

Futures have you heard Enslaved? Mardraum scratches a similar itch as this one for me. It's chaotic and genre bending in a comparable way I would say.

Also OH I never replied to the May version of you Futures! Eek!

There are soooooo many Enslaved albums out there. If you want something in the vein of this one, I'd say start with Mardraum.

They have many faces and probably people are going to disagree with this starting point, but that's unavoidable.

They're waaayyyy more proggy after Mardraum and wayyyyy more BM-y before it, so it's a nice transition era. That run from Mardraum-Monumension-Below the Lights-Isa is my super fave, but as you can already see from the averages, they're a quality band that never really stumbled. Very impressive considering their enormous discog.

Jamming again now for the first time in ages and I’ve gotta agree, this thing rips hard, no idea how I gave it a 3.5 back in the day.
