I've heard this once and Mezzanine a hundred times but I might end up preferring this one day wtf

"incredible album, stunningly emotive and boundary-pushing. 2.5/5" - cyg

I prefer this to Mezzanine, more varied, more eccentric, more sexually depraved - you can see why Tricky had nowhere to go in his solo career after this, he made the perfect embodiment of his personality through the music here

^As much as I like this opinion I have to strongly disagree with this being better than Mezz or even on the same level but Blue Lines sure

Mezz is the sleekest and I guess the most accomplished in a lot of ways, it's a 'serious' album, but I find Blue Lines and Maxinquaye have the more inviting atmospheres and that classic 90s spliffy vibe.

I can agree with that. Mezz is prolly the most timeless-sounding (hell, it almost sounds like it could've come from this decade). This and BL have a more human element whereas Mezz is extremely cold and suffocating

Yeah this doesn't have the same sense of creative purpose and intent as Mezz, but the atmospheres are lusher for me

One or two slightly lesser tunes maybe but it has two more songs than Mezzanine so not much of an issue.

Mezzanine is the longer album over fewer songs - am I saying some of the songs are maybe dragged out a little too much? Yes.

Martina's vocals on this are so good, Aftermath is perfect.

Dan you better not have something silly like Mezzanine or Endtroducing sitting on a 5 ahead of this now I'm gonna check...

Mezz is guilty lol. But this could be a 5 soon, a couple of tracks just haven't clicked on a classic level yet is all.

He really is - just noticed he has Dummy 5'd ahead of this too. There's a clue in there

I saw Tricky perform this live and he just walked off stage for about 6 songs and let Martina carry the whole thing. Joker.
