Whoa, I never said FOB was crap BECAUSE they were mainstream. I just said they're incredibly overrated, and that a lot of other bands deserve their level of fame and recognition far more than they do. There are other bands with far more talent musically that are just as catchy but don't have an incredible hype machine like Def Jam behind them. Yeah, FOB's lyrics can be witty, but they don't do it for me. And their songs that deal mainly with "OMG we're sensations and the scene loves us" are pretty annoying.
I agree that many bands overdo the whole left-wing drivel lyricisms, but there are a bunch that present it in a way that's not ham-fisted or contrived. Yeah sure it's not "happy" or super-entertaining, but I'd rather be smart than complacent/ignorant. There IS a bunch of fucked-up sh*t going on outside our little glass house and people ignore it all b/c it's not right in their faces. Maybe the reason people write political lyrics is because they're outraged at the state of affairs, which SHOULD be celebrated. At least SOMEONE is saying something about it!
But either way, whining about relationships constantly can get far more tiresome to listen to, especially when there's three albums full of it.

Best Fall Out Boy album yet. Infinity On High is a proper example that they're better off writing pop music instead of going for the more "scene/hardcore" sound.
'Hum Hallelujah' is boring
It's probably Patrick's worst vocal job on the album. However, the worst vocal job overall goes to the screaming heard on "The Carpal Tunnel of Love."

I just said they're incredibly overrated, and that a lot of other bands deserve their level of fame and recognition far more than they do. I honestly don't think that's true. Alot of people said back in the day, from what I've heard, Fall Out Boy deserves the success more than Good Charlotte or New Found Glory. Now they have exceeded their success people think it is undeserving.

Have you even heard this past the single?

Of course he hasn't.
This kind of "emo sob story crap" is obviously beneath his advanced musical tastes.
I actually listened to this all the way through for the first time today in study hall. It was enjoyable.

Sure is.

And G.I.N.A.S.F.S is pretty awesome. I'm surprised no one has mentioned it.

What happened to FOB back when they were good?
Well Take This To Your Grave is a distant reminder of what Fall Out Boy USED to be like before the Kanye West and MTV awards got to there heads.
InFinity On High has some small reminders of what FOB had in them but the whole Kanye plug in the beginning kills it for me
kanye stay in the rap studio and out of the rock scene!
FOB doesnt belong in arenas they belong in small venues and clubs playing for the love of music not love of $

This is better than I thought it would be, though at the moment FUCT is better. This rating will probably change within a week or two.
Nice review as always, SOP.

Good review, i have to say the songs on this are unbeievably catchy - which can get annoying especially if you're caught singing them.

Good album. Good review. And Hum Hala...whatever...is a really good song. The original is a tearjerker. I love it and the homage/cover. Fav song on CD
