and for gods sake if i hear one more person say anything about how "Atreyu is not deathcore, stupid" i will shoot them because were not talking about Atreyu
Then why are you commenting on an Atreyu review?

*boom tish*
Way to have a popular review, dawg.
And why do you always single me out, DFelon?
Honestly, when you make comments using terms like "deathcore," you're singling yourself out man. I'm just the one noticing and posting about it. There's a reason nobody here uses the term "deathcore" and has some pretty good fun at your expense about once a week.

Deathcore really doesn't exist.

My thing with deathcore is that people are compressing to things that aren't actually compressed in real life. The legit bands that I've heard of and seen labelled as "deathcore" are stuff like Between the Buried and Me and The Glass Casket. Now, the bands that actually use death metal and metalcore is equal doses usually don't take their influences as some intensely artistic movement that needs its own portmanteau label of "deathcore." BTBAM is as much death metal as it is prog, pop, power metal, grind, and a whole lot of other stuff. I think they're having more fun tricking kids into using wack terms like "deathcore" than they actually are close to being a 50/50 death metal hardcore blend. For example there are a ton of bands that are legitimately 50/50 metal and hardcore, hence the logical metalcore. "Deathcore" is most appropriately used for bands that are usually better or more interesting or at least more self aware than than 99% of death metal and metalcore bands out there.
Which I guess can be compressed well into the phrase "[d]eathcore doesn't really exist" (after mincing Cocaine's words a little bit).

well if they arent one or another then how do you distinguish them from bands like Hatebreed for Hardcore and Death for Death metal? its not really even a genre its a way for someone who likes both genres to distinguish bands who are more their style from bands who arent as spot on.
and were talking about it on Atreyu's page because the conversation started here?

I keep trying to read DFelon's argument, but his big ass avatar distracts me with its big-ness.
Opinion DENIED.

I tried to read your comments once too but your big pitchfork fetish obscured a lot of what you were trying to say. When did you sell out your xHXCx xbrosx for the indie kids?
But on a serious note,
well if they arent one or another then how do you distinguish them from bands like Hatebreed for Hardcore and Death for Death metal?
You listen to them and realize that nomenclature, while really important for some things, is going to be secondary to listening to the artist's music. I don't care how many styles certain genre bending bands blend together. In general, just call them what they are closest too, or have the most of, and call it a day.
I always liked calling Illusion-era Thrice "melodic hardcore." It made so much sense on that CD.

Which is much more enjoyable IMO.
