Whoracle is definitely the weakest of their old material. It has way more filler.

the melodies used are mostly in a minor context (and there's more folky acoustic work going on)

Hence why it sounds very samey ;).This Message Edited On 02.07.09

this album sounds the most samey out of their good ones mainly due to there being only 4 good songs and the rest just blend together

yeah I don't like this as much as most people do either. 3.5 seems the highest I could give this.

I'd agree. Colony is easily their most entertaining album and The Jester Race is their "defining album".

The Wizard said:It's funny, I find Whoracle to be their weakest. The entire album is one giant borefest of the samey sounding songs over and over and over.........
Someone else said:Actually if anything, that's Clayman.
I'd agree that it's Clayman that is the repetitive album trying to make an album's worth of music out of "Ordinary Story" from Colony. Whoracle has variation, it's just that most of it is boring. The most entertaining song is the instrumental.

I've always liked Clayman better, but Colony is growing on me and might overtake it

I just don't think this is as consistent as their other earlier work. First half is really good but then it starts to trail off towards the end.

thank you, Willie for pointing out the main problem this album has. I'd rate this lower but it just feels wrong to rate an In Flames album lower that 3.

This is their best work PERIOD. I liked RTR and Whoracle more than this before, but Clayman grew on me so much... The brilliant lyrics and the glorious riffs / melodies make this the crown of In Flames' career. Square Nothing, Only for the Weak and Pinball Map
