He definitely seems to be a pretty cool guy, not even close to be as pendantic as Axl, he definitely was the driving force of the band, the media turned him into some kind of guitar god on the same league as the greatest legends but it doesn't seem like he thinks of himself as a guitar god either so it isn't his fault

"he definitely was the driving force of the band"

Don't know if "more" but they are quite good too, what I meant basically was that Axl is the most overrated

I really enjoy his vocals on studio but live he has always sucked, even in their heyday

Axl is just a big hat, nice vibrato and some signature bends.

Axl was the driving force for this album just as much as any of the other members were (and definitely more so than Slash). The whole record is built around his attitude.

And it's just as overrated as he is as a direct result.

I get why a lot of people dislike this but you really can't deny the cultural impact. This is one of the biggest rock albums of all time. Period.

There are a million reasons to hate on Axl, but being a crappy songwriter or a hack vocalist are not among them.

you can't really tell people why they can or can't like Axl. I appreciate the cultural impact this band had but personally AR is annoying af and probably the main reason I could never get into this band

It's definitely an album that I wouldn't begrudge anyone for calling a classic. I've 'rocked out' to it at various time in me life but it's always got on me tits. The band themselves are cartoons.

I've always felt however that this is one of the biggest examples of, "if it hadn't been such a successful album, everyone would love it"

however successful this album was has no bearing on how annoying AR is to me

oh I guess I haven't witnessed that but it doesn't surprise me. Axl is by far the biggest thorn in the side of this album for me. besides that I actually like it quite a bit
