To me Stairway doesn't build up to a payoff like so many songs do. It not boring until it gets somewhere interesting and meaningful, the buildup itself is already beautiful and worthwhile. It doesn't drag or overstay its welcome.
It may be overplayed, but Zep made something rock solid there.
