Correct. Start to end perfection. I'm as big a Brand New fanboy as there is and this beat out Science Fiction as my 2017 AOTY. I really can't say enough good things about the album.

Sci fi is another hard 5, but yeah, this seems to slightly beat it out.

It's near impossible to hear this and not get emotional in some way.

Yes! It actually almost brought me to tears a few times. Very difficult for music to take me that far. Just really related to some of the lyrics about marriage, fatherhood etc.

Thinking back on their discog, just noticed how fucking good these guys are at putrid. Some powerful and emotionally cathartic stuff.

Simple Math and Mean Everything to Nothing are both good next steps

I almost feel bad for MO, but Go Farther In Lightness destroyed everything in its path on the way to my #1 slot that year

Eclipse, just start with Virgin, then proceed chronologically. That’s what I’ve been doing and seeing their progression has been fascinating.

I like Cope quote a bit. Don’t skip it. Just go in knowing it’s pretty one more (albeit very well done). And Top Notch is one of their best.

That outro in The Silence that closes out the album is such a powerful and cathartic emotional release.

No Ears off the Black Mile demos is such a stunningly beautiful song, but I can see why it didn’t make the album. It somehow has a different feel from the songs off the album. Just doesn’t fit the vibe of the album.

Why isn’t the Black Mile demos listed here as an album? Spotify counts it as one. As an EP at least — six songs, five of them being new (not on A Black Mile LP).

Thank y'all for your help. Just finished Virgin, but gotta say that it has a little too much pop punk influences. However, it also has some moments that clearly remind me of A Black Mile. 3.5 or 3, not sure.
