Yeah the production on this is bomb. Really gives it the dry, desert-y feeling they were going for.

If this music was animated porridge, it'd be the first time these meatbags pull off sounding rough..

Another (the last?) video about the making of this album.

whether or not you actually enjoy this music you have to admit that it's pretty impressive how this band operates and have been able to maintain such a good relationship with one another for 17 years. From having their lead singer leave them, to unselfishly using everyone's writing, playing and singing talents to create albums with a shared vision is commendable. They deserve all the attention and success they've gained over the years in my opinion.

that's probably why I still consider them my favorite band. they may not make my favorite albums anymore, but while other bands change members, break up, lose direction, Mastodon soldiers on.

finally listened to this today in the only way mastodon should be listened to, with the sun out, windows down and volume cranked up. roots remain, scorpion breath and jaguar god are slappers. probably my fav of the last 3 records

I dont get why people change ratings on albums all the time. Like the review for this album for instance was a 4 but now the dude changed his rating to 3.6! Like wow! That was fast. Ever thought you may just not be in the mood for the album? It's goofy how people do that in general.
