deep cuts off suicide season are hit or miss, it's a crazy gap between their worst material in their career and some of their best like the title track
This took all the good parts and erased all the kinda whatever dross in the middle

this is like the 2010s scene core equivalent of Jane Doe

maybe this take is too 2020s brained but kinda wish the drums were a bit higher in the mix here.
sempiternal gets a ton of credit for its influence (and rightfully so) but def find this one to be the more interesting listen these days

Revisiting to confirm that Crucify Me is still their best song.
These guys wrote some insanely potent melodic riffs and leads back in the day. I can have fun with some of their more recent stuff, but there's actual feeling in moments here that can still give me goosebumps if I'm in the right headspace.
Unfortunately I still think there's a fair amount of garbage mixed in, same with Suicide Season.

suicide season, crucify me and hospital for souls are all their best songs. love when they went in the post-rock direction. wish they did it more. they had a real knack for it and was a pretty distinct sound.

For sure, all fantastic tracks. I'm defenseless against anything with post-rock blended in. It's just a straight up auto-win in my book. I wish it was more present in modern core.

So those three songs are the post rock songs? This sounds intriguing

Not outright, just some common ground in the builds and guitar work, but it's close enough to scratch a similar itch.

Semp def my favorite followed by this, but agree with some others that crucify me is their best song. Suicide season, hospital for souls and sleepwalking (fight) are the rest.

Those tracks are def post rock adjacent/leaning (probably no coincidence they’re my favorite BMTH tracks either).
I miss these guys being good, damnit.

Alright, I've been jamming this hard for a few days now. I think I was too hard on a lot of these tracks previously. Almost everything here has something really solid going on. I occasionally get distracted by some of the lyrics but I'm gonna have to bump my rating on this.

seeing them tonight so gave this a full spin as they prob aren't playing any of these songs
def think a lot of their best material is here... but as a whole this suffers a lot from same-tempo-itis and is therefore a bit less than the sum of its parts as a result. love pretty much all of anthem, it never ends, fuck, home sweet hole, alligator blood, and visions but at the same time if you were to remove the vocals i'm not confident i could tell the songs apart.
if anything, blacklist jumped out a lot to me this listen and maybe would've benefitted the album if it were earlier in the tracklist
