It's not bad, pretty fun at some points. But they still have a lot of maturity to discover. Probably never will honestly.

Yea what I mean is they're still writing stuff that a 12 year old could easily write. Musically ATS was a big step in the right direction. Now if they could only perfect that formula then you'd have a fantastic album, but lyrical this kinda sucks.

Agreed. It's still all pretty simple and basic lyrically. Definitely has its upside for me though.

half of that album was nothing more than bland electronica beats mixed with overproduced production and a convoluted concept

the average it has right now is perfect and should stay that way

I should prob lower this honestly. Seriously though, I think the lyrics are the biggest problem here. They've never really been goo lyricists but I've more forgivable on HT.

If they want to express something, which I assume they do, then lyrics matter an awful lot though.

I mainly got into Linkin Park thanks to Joe Hahn's beats and guitar riffs, lyrical maturity is not something that I care about when it comes to a band like this

@tresm

Can't really agree with you on that. Of course the music is crucial and defines the song. But in a way it is like a person's facial expression and gestures. It can tell you an awful lot, it can carry a lot of emotion, but there are no specifics. Now I'm definitely not saying, that the music alone can't be touching or trigger something, but overall you can't tell people too much with it. Political message? Needs lyrics. An actual love song? Needs lyrics.

I don't know about you, but most of the songs I really care about got to me through their lyrics to quite some extent. Doesn't mean that they're everything and there are a lot of great tunes out there, where the lyrics don't add much, but still.

"when the actual music and singing sounds good enough to my ears i really don't take the lyrics incredibly seriously although i will admit they are immature at times yet very relatable"

Ok, agree with that though mostly.

It's been teetering between avgs for a while now. I'm not surprised.

Meteora is better, anyway.
