The people who came to the conclusion that it is mediocre because of hexagram and when girls telephone boys
Who says that? Those are two of their best songs! Though Battle-axe and Deathblow are top 15 for me, maybe even top 10.
Would be fun to do a ranking of all their songs. Just gotta carve out the time to actually do it.

Great song and good choice but I still think WGTB and Rats go harder.

Korea and the last 90 seconds of Royal are the band’s best moments for me

Holy shit, this is bizarre. Just a second ago I was switching from Midnight Organ Fight to Deftones shuffle play and guess what the fuck came on? When Girls Telephone Boys. Goddamn such a glorious song. The desperation and rage in his voice are just so fucking spot on and authentic.

Now Prayers/Triangles is on. So lush. Going from that brutality to the beauty just illustrates why these guys are one of the best bands out there (my personal favorite) and how diverse they are.

This is really making me want to do a ranking of every Deftones song with some explanations/summaries. Spoiler: Pink Maggit is way up there near the top.

Is he singing about north Korea or south Korea?

I always thought the lyrics were "Work your bitch"
The lyrics are definitely about a stripper, but it could be about anything.

Chino might have criticized Jonathan Davis nihilist lyrics as prepubescent bullshit. But sometimes he gets TOO sexual in some of his lyrics, like he frequents strip clubs to get the inspiraton.

White Pony was my first Deftones album, but I think I was disappointed because I wanted every song to be like Change and Bender(the Sevendust song featuring Chino). I was 12 in 2000, give me a break. Then this came out and I loved it and revisited White Pony and realized the genius.

"White Pony was my first Deftones album, but I think I was disappointed because I wanted every song to be like Change and Bender(the Sevendust song featuring Chino)."
yea that was me back in 2001 too. WP wasn't enough for me as this was even after I came to understand the record.

Never really liked Change at all really, one of my least fave Deftones songs.
Idc, just has a really drab chorus imo and doesn't really go anywhere.

I remember as a young teen lookin at the video and wanted to be in parties like that. and once I grew up and ended up on them, I understood the drabness of the song and video lol (stop taking downers, people). the chorus pulls me back cuz a slight word swap that makes the difference of the lines.

Someone contact Chino and tell him that they should write a sequel to this album.
