Muenzner's solos might be the most conventional - and thus slightly boring - element on this

Very few tech death bands are as compositionally strong as spawn. In fact I can’t name one

All good Space, just not a fan of this type of wanky tech-death.

Something about the tone or key here is a little off for me personally (like I’ve said previously), but I don’t think it’s ‘wank’ - that’s mostly a useless and dismissive descriptor.

Anyone prefer First Fragment or Inferi’s peak to this? Cabinet is close, thinking about it. Theory in Practice maybe as well?

I almost don’t even put them in the same category, but yeah.

Inferi isn't very good though...

As for this I don't see how there's wankery of any sort. The songs are all pretty straightforward for a technical death metal album. 'Where Angels Go...' is such a sick track, and the closing track's crescendo is pure malevolence. Amazing track

Didn't know that. I just meant the association isn't really there for me, different eras, different vibes etc. Also they're the 'go to' tech mention for seemingly anyone who prefers a more traditional old school DM sound (I also do, more often than not). Not saying that's wrong, but it is dull.

Necrophagist are great and all, not dissing 'em.
