That's exactly what I meant. Similar craft, different tunes.
If this came out today, I may have been more favorable towards it; mixed feelings. Plus, the wait didn't help much.

"Money may not have been the intention of creating Load, but Metallica already having money/fame I think effected the quality."
Absolutely. I also believe that the impact that Black Album had on these guys (and their accounts) helped shape Load. But even after all those years I'm not sure if Load was actually an introspective album most of all.

well bob rock produced dr feelgood and the songs have a relatively similar structure (verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus) so i guess they were just ripping off motley crue.

there are some elements of the black album that continued on to Load, but some of it is very different obviously as well....you're both right!

I hear drastic differences between load and the black album. like hero of the day would sound super out of place on the black album. could say the same about through the never and load.

well load certainly sounds a lot more like the black album compared to the black album sounding like its predecessor......just a continuing evolution of the sound they were trying to capture

Which was a shit sound.

Personally I was desperately hoping for Metallica to return to a Load-like sound for Hardwired. Death Magnetic had some decent cuts, but I don't think a single moment of that album felt geniune. They were actively trying to appease fans - and I think that continued onto Hardwired.

There were a lot of moments on Hardwired that reminded me of Load/ReLoad

I like how Hardwired sounds like Black Album with some thrash here and there. But even still, some songs on there could fit anywhere on Load/Reload.

I feel like the hate for this album should really be aimed at Reload, because that thing is a pile of ass. A cute riff here and there, Fuel is fine, Memory is cool live, and thats pretty much it. So bad.
