People looking back seem to forget these guys helped drive metalcore from a small scene to the overblown monstrosity it is now. They may not be THE foundational band, but they contributed a lot to it. In 2004 the boundaries of the genre weren't yet set in stone. Don't discount a genre because of the hordes of posers; if you are to discount a genre do it based off of the leading bands in it. If you don't like ABR, As I Lay Dying, or these guys, then you don't like the genre

"Poison the well" did that kind of metalcore first in 1999 with "Opposite of December". It was copied a thousand times after that. Misery Signals does add a more progressive tone to it, but the real contribution goes to PtW and converge of course.

Misery Signals is a lot better than PtW. And have nothing to do with Converge lol

PtW is good too, but yeah, Misery Signals is definitely better.

The Opposite of December destroys Misery Signals whole discography aside from Controller.
