it's not really cliche. it seems like half the people enjoy Air while the other half enjoy Focus.

I can listen to Focus more. You make me sad John =[

Here's how it breaks down for me: Focus is basically a collection of 8 of the best prog/death songs ever made.
Traced in Air just has a better overall flow and feels more like an album than a collection of separate, supermegabadass songs

This is a true piece of art, the playing on it is superb. I must say when I heard this for the first time it made me realise how much I missed these guys. Not perfect but pretty damn close.

Yeah. The vocals are kind of lousy, but yeah.

Yeah the vocals are good. This grew off me a little bit, but it's still an amazing album.

lol don't worry I knew nobody here would agree with me about that.

Instrumentally, the album is excellent, but the airy vocals tend to irritate. I actually like the robo-voice from Focus a lot better. The death metal vocals are OK on Traced in Air but I thought there could have been more of them, and a few more heavier riffs in general. Focus was more balanced, I feel. But I need to give Traced in Air a few more listens, assuming I can get past those helium balloon vocals. And who makes a 30-minute album anymore these days?
