revisited that Unanswered performance with Phil Bozeman... holy shit when his lows hit it's like my asshole is being ripped apart towards the end there. Can't imagine being at that show

Has aged better than most scene-leaning deathcore. Plenty of hard mosh m/

word. 3 is too low. I was admittedly having too much fun jamming this.
i can't see myself ever loving enough to 5, but it does kinda feel like a classic for the time. I remember so many mall core & emo kids jamming this shit when before they'd never even consider listening to something death metal adjacent.

yeah this is how i got into deathcore back in the day and still is the peak of the genre to me. nasty, raw, heavy and insane vocals. just incredibly fun and still sounds just as good. love the production on this. it is indeed crazy an album this heavy got as popular as it did, it’s basically brutal death metal with breakdowns.

No Pity for a Coward made me rip up my work papers and mosh in my cubicle

It is nothing unique but it is definitely a solid album.

unfortunately falls off in creativity in the latter half and is definitely overlong, the 13 tracks show nothing they couldn't have managed with 10

ehh, that's nitpicking really. This album was a moment in time. I don't mind the extra fat (especially since I don't really like anything else this band ever did)

It was an easy listen (like I said - inoffensive), no pig squeals which I never liked personally etc, but with some tracks I kinda felt why people disliked this scene so much back in the day. It's essentially death metal, but less. Made simpler and more "fun for the bros" but at the cost of variety, nuance and dynamics.
I wouldn't mind going to a gig but I'd never stan for these guys like some ppl did

I get it, but that's like complaining about a Coal Chamber album because it doesn't have variety, nuance and dynamics. This was just dumb, angry, schlocky fun for teenagers angry at their mom. And it was excellent at that and executed quite well. Unanswered and No Pity at the very least are metal classics at this point

yea unanswered was good, but that's track one. if this had only the first 8 tracks, it'd be an easy 3,5
