It should be blatantly obvious to anyone with an ounce of sense that Mudvayne is a progressive rock band of the particular entity, progressive metal, with their music being rooted in the thrash and extreme (black and death) metal offshoots of prog-metal such as Voivod, Cynic, Atheist, Emperor, Death and Meshuggah, as well as the melodic progressive metal of bands like Dream Theater and Porcupine Tree.
