"more taylor swift tier lyrics that ppl pretend are good because they don’t resent charli the way they do taylor"
i just don't think taylor is remotely capable of being as self-reflective as charli is anywhere on this album... not just on the "deep" tracks but even on the bangers too. i don't even really dislike taylor that's just kinda facts
i'd love for taylor to take some notes from this and drop the "look at little ol' me topping billboard for the 7345456th week in a row can you believe that i'm just like you" schtick it'd prob be really interesting.
honestly i think this album's commercial success has a lot to do with how tired people are of the taylor's current brand of lazy quantity-over-quality antinoff dreck. not sure this album becomes this "moment" if not released at peak taylor-malaise.

Can't speak to Taylor Swift's lyrics, but there's nothing on Brat that rises above average lyrically speaking. Nothing cringe-worthy or actively bad, but nothing memorable or particularly interesting either.
Pop stars reflecting on their fame is as boring as it gets really...

Nothing particularly interesting? 'I think about it all the time' absolutely sticks with me. Really personal and emotional track.

Ahh yes because Charli would definitely write...
"We would pick a decade
We wished we could live in instead of this
I'd say the 1830s but without all the racists and getting married off for
the highest bid"

It's not that the lyrics are average, is just that you don't "get it" man...
I wonder how many Swifties say exactly the same thing?
|

Swifties will point to however many scam college courses and claim that she's the next Shakespeare, whereas the absolute last thing you could claim for this album is that it's overwritten to camouflage a lack of substance. Stupid comparison really

exactly. lyrics are superb and you dont get it

I enjoy the album for its energy and hooks.
The lyrics are average (except maybe for the song about her worrying if she will have children or not). The one with metaphors about an apple is particularly high school level poetry competition egregious.
But each to their own (Swifties included). Enjoy!

can you explain that song to me? i would love to have your insight. i am so dumb

its just so funny that you cite the "song about worrying if she will have children or not" as a lyrical highlight but you call "high school level poetry" the song about distancing herself from her parents because she realizes they're rotten and she might pass their worst traits onto her own children someday

I think the lyrics are good, there are definitely some exceptions but good for pop standards. Rewind is the worst song I’ve heard in a long time
