Nothing on this album is worth its runtime. On Hardwired and DM you can at least skip the stinkers, that's why they're better

I made an edited abridged version that takes the runtime down to I think 62 minutes, and that's the one I listen to on my iPhone. Ironically "Inamorata" is the only song not affected at all. Maybe this is why I like the album more than most, I'm listening to my personal cut lmao. But I'm a big fan of my "chasing light" edit and I hate the album version

Yeah, you won’t see me bitching about Inamorata’s length because it’s the only track here that actually justifies a 6+ minute run time.
And did you do that for Hardwired by any chance and can I have a link lol, if I’m gonna talk shit about this record I should probably give it another listen and having 15 minutes shaved off sounds like the best way for me to revisit

@TheSonomaDude That's pretty cool, these songs are in dire need of some trimming. Yea idk if that would save them l, but they can only improve this way.
@Wildcard: I don't think it's as much an issue for Hardwired tbh, you should cut whole songs on that album

I couldn't be bothered to listen to this. Think I'm fully done with new 'tallica unless I hear rumblings that they're actually going to embrace the Load era, which IMO is what they should have been doing the last fifteen years.

Yea, I will listen to new stuff at least once
But I guess I am not very interested in Metallica in general

@mandan
That's like going downward in quality... They're good albums but nothing like DM and more repetitive/fomulaic.

"it’s probably why a lot of us still come back to every new Metallica release with anticipation (and possibly even excitement) despite the fact their ’classic’ era barely makes up twenty percent of their career."
yeah it's because people wanna see if they pull another Black Album out of their ass even though it's a pipe dream

They have released another 12 songs good enough to make up a new Black album since then...unfortunately they've spread that material over about ten releases.

The closer here is so painfully boring

Metallica's new music is the equivalent of Eminems new stuff over the last 7-8 years lol. Extremely mediocre and bland. Boarding on terrible something I'm not interested in. But the hardcore fans are going to enjoy it just because it's not the worst music ever made

"They have released another 12 songs good enough to make up a new Black album since then...unfortunately they've spread that material over about ten releases."
This. But even then there's the persistent track length issue, with even the good songs almost always overstaying their welcome.

Kinda mad that they went from Disc 1 of HTSD to....whatever this is. 12 songs and you can't make a single one I'd return to?

Metallica: The Yellow Album

A body of mine got me a ticket to see their upcoming tour with Pantera opening and I am pretty pumped. With that said, this release fell totally flat for me
|
| |
Caught that tour last year and it did indeed fucking rule. Except for the Pantera and 5FDP and Ice Nine Kills Part. Boy did they suck hard.
Mammoth VH was badass though.
|
| |
I have never heard of or listened to Mammoth VH, but maybe I will check them out ahead of the show. I really like Pantera, but am not sure what it is going to sound like in 2024.. Ice Nine Kills is okay. 5FDP I am really happy that I am not going the day they are playing.
