Injury aside, I think in 5 years Kyler will prove to be kind of a bust. I hear about all this talent and potential but having watched him a decent amount, I just don’t see it. He’s got a decent arm but he doesn’t really strike me as a QB who has the potential to lead his team far into the playoffs or carry the team to a win in a tough situation. He’s just okay.

Short jokes aside though, I think Kyler being a bust will prove to be more so from his own seeming lack of discipline or work ethic than talent alone. Then again, Kliff Kingsbury is probably gonna lose his job shortly here and maybe another coach can whip him into shape.

1. his offensive genius, and

2. the fact that, outside of QB, the Niners have probably the best roster in the NFL, and it's not particularly close.



Feel like the only way they fuck it up this time is if Purdy can't come in clutch. His movement in the pocket and general elusiveness have been impressive thus far, but the glass slipper usually cracks for backups.

Had one bad should've-been-picked throw that I remember and a few others behind/not quite on target, but overall his poise and mobility are promising. Hard to ask for much else for a second pro start.
