I'm just gonna say, I don't think Courtney's harsh vocals suit super heavy songs. She has a single mid-range scream that she does for every line and it doesn't work for me on these types of tracks.
I saw someone saying that this new song would shut the haters up or whatever. I've never cared if Spiritbox were particularly heavy, since I have other bands that do heavy way better, but they got a lot less interesting with Eternal Blue. The songs themselves are fine but the direction is a lot more straight-forward and less....idk Skyharbor-y? than their EP.

They definitely “dumbed it down” on this but it’s still very well done.
Also I’m still not agreeing with the “same scream” take. She literally drops way low on the new one lol.
Is she the most versatile screamer ever? No. But I don’t think she’s one note either.
That all being said, the ending of Cellar Door being that part repeating forever into a fade out isn’t doing it any favors

I feel like so many of these bands that hit it big will come out with a "heavy" one to show they still got it and it always feels forced.
As far as the low vocals, I just relistened to the song and didn't catch any parts where she goes much lower than she usually does. Probably the most boring Courtney song they've written, which is disappointing since she's usually a huge appeal for me.
I just think the song is fairly boring and is only heavy relative to their previous material. Other bands do this sound way better imo.

I definitely get thinking they got way less interesting with EB. I partially agree, but I still spin EB all the fucking time, it's a guilty pleasure I guess, so I have to disagree somewhat.
Courtney's harsh vocals are by far my favorite thing about this band. When she screams, I get hard. But ironically I massively prefer their melodic songs in general, although Cellar rips too

I still really like EB; I just had to adjust my expectations of the band to be another atmospheric prog-fest like I had grown used to. I just think most of the band's token heavy songs (Cellar Door, Holy Roller, Silk in the Strings) are the weaker ones since they don't really go anywhere and Courtney's vocals don't change enough to accentuate the money moments. The Ryu version of Holy Roller goes so much harder when that breakdown comes in, and I will die on the hill that it should have been the definitive album version.

My Spiritbox playlist doesn't have Holy Roller or Silk either. They just got old after a while. Cellar Door will probably join them but for now it still has that new-Spiritbox-smell

I will say that Jaded fucks and really does it for me in a similar way that you're describing.

haha I'm not one of those. I roll my eyes at the box jokes, they were funny for like 2 EPs, but they're just redundant now. We get it, she's hot, and you fancy her. Move along

I do roll my eyes at the neckbeards who have to AWOOGA at her in every release they do. Like yeah, she's hot, neat.

What if I objectify the female keyboardist

Honestly, I think they are objectifying me. Whenever I play their music videos, they're looking directly at me, and I can FEEL their judgement and objectification of me and I demand justice.
