They are whiny, dont care about that band anymore though, doesnt have the djenty chugs I enjoy, too incoherent structurally

Your mental state is incoherent structurally.

Memphis May Fire vox just as whiny as Bring Me The Horizon, Asking Alexandria, Periphery, and you like them

Is there maybe a distinction to be made between nasally and so nasally that it becomes whiny?

I liked one album of theirs over a decade ago and haven't jammed since so I wouldn't know lmao. Come off it Tundra. Your taste is shit and everyone knows. Accept it and continue about your life. The whole "you like Memphis May Fire" thing is so off base and literally the only thing you ever bring up.

Now that we've disputed this we can move on to the fact that Periphery are anything but constant mindless chugging and have just as much intricate guitar work as Erra does

It's different but same. Like, they're both djenty, but Periphery is more Bleed-style djent riffs where the intricacy comes from the timing of their riffs, while Erra seems to be more about riffs that make fuller use of the fretboard.
Not saying that goes for all of their songs (opening of Gungrave is super precisely timed, and the riffs on Alpha and CHVRCH BVRNER are way more stereotypically riffy, for example), but that's the general trend I noticed

Cure is just all chugs lmao, Periphery II has multiple songs going around the fret board like crazy, Periphery I too

Album Rating: 4.5
For your Erra point, I literally said "Not saying that goes for all of their songs"
I also am going off of my experience with later Periphery, which is why I made sure to add in the fact that it's what I noticed from my own personal experience

Now I haven't heard Cure so idk what it sounds like, but Erra and Periphery chugs for example are different from like mindless chugging. Usually they're polyrhythmic and honestly can be difficult to replicate without thinking about it or having a metronome

Modern metalcore has no mindless chugs, it's always highly nuanced with intricacies like odd meters, tapping riffs, etc. and Periphery are one of the bands that popularised the sound, Periphery II is an undisputed classic in the genre

Definitely the best one they've dropped for the new album, though I will still jam Cure and Pale Iris
"Modern metalcore has no mindless chugs"
I'm a modern metalcore guy, but this is... just inaccurate lol
