still think the climax appearing so early is kind of a buzzkill but I sure played this a lot more than Holocene when it came out

Yep Holocene was a big misfire for me, Triassic a fantastic opening on this, still hits hard every time

Jurassic / Cretaceous is one of the best metal tracks ever imo

I watched one guy's reaction to this album and he really loved holocene (the track), maybe because how mellow it is. But it's also quite monotonous

Phan 1 is slightly better than this overall, but this has such a good freefall through so many different styles which also works with the conceptual epoch thing. Pleitoscene fucking goes hard and after that we finish with the somber title track

Bruh whaaaaaaaaaaaat source???
He's not the most stellar live vocalist but more hit or miss than terrible, I have absolutely heard him kill it and also heard him and been like oh no baby what is you doin? But I really appreciate the sound he lends to this band on the records overall, always been a big fan of his nasally snarly cleans and he has a beeg nice harsh, the range of harsh vocals on Pleistocene from this album alone just fuckin beats ass.
The band also did great with rotating vocalists tho so we'll see what they do moving forward and hopefully it doesn't suck.

the album cycle was complete so this seems like a natural time for the Collective to reset. be fun to follow their next projects.

Yeah I'm more curious and excited than devastated, even just the Loic era of this band is a pretty massive chunk of discography at this point and with it being largely 1 man's pet project that has already been through a revolving door of other musicians to pretty consistently great effect it's easier to stomach big lineup changes like that.

Man I know I'm in the vast minority but Loic was my favorite part of the band. Absolutely love his vocal melodies and delivery. Such a bummer that I never got to see them live. fifteen years of hoping they'd come here and it never happened even once.
