"no they are actually pretty bad the only interesting thing is their use of synths sometimes, apart from that dogshite"

For their best material, this is pretty false. Every member of the band was on point from the WDADU to Awake era.

"their music just doesn't catch me in the same way a band like this does."

Their lyrics are usually more cerebral and less personal. But when they get their combination right like on "Learning to Live" or "A Change of Seasons" they're pretty untouchable.

@Moog: Fair. Meanwhile I have no desire to even revisit the few tracks I dug off The Astonishing and this thing's been my new obsession for over a week now.

Agent you should check When Day and Dream Unite it’s way better than any DT album of the last 15 years including vox

Maybe I will one day. Probably once the bozos over in the Metal Storm discord stop haranguing me over having over 200 scrobbles of Dream Theater, lol.

@Space: yeah definitely. They also got onto me for my Radiohead plays, among dozens of other bands. Even going after some of the scrobbles I made in 2015-2016 (because why the hell else would I have over 200 of 5FDP and Nickelback? Lmfao I don't listen to either much anymore).

@Source: yeah I know haha

Note to staff members, if you are giving this album a .5 just to lower the ratings you aren't qualified to be a staff member on this website.

All I'm confused by is the soundoff saying it was "sort of boring but not offensively so" yet it was a 0.5 rating.

Like think what you want, but that doesn't really sound like the rationale of a 0.5 to me. But who knows, maybe slightly boring is worthy of such a harsh condemnation to some people.

idk bombing something just because doesn't really sit well with me, but I feel the same way about dumbasses on steam overreacting about every little thing.

Yea, that's some very stupid staff moves imo. Doesn't affect me much, but makes me lose some serious respect

I gotta make staff just so I can bring this average rating down by .5 more than I currently have.

Have there ever been this many comments on this new a review on this site? Surely this is record-breaking.
