You may be right, I'll give it another listen. But nothing really jumped out at me as hugely memorable upon first spin. Some albums I just feel like, while I rarely love them immediately, I at least get the initial sense that it has the chance to be special. This didn't feel like that to me, but 10/10 will give another shot.

I may be biased because im totally in love with this melodic-emotionally-driven-but-not-quite-whiny-or-poppy-enough-to-truly-be-considered-pop-punk brand of punk music, like these guys, Gaslight Anthem, Smith Street Band, Jeff Rosenstock, Red City Radio, Lawrence Arms, etc.

Also I saw these guys live back in October and it was honestly the most fun show of my life

Yeah they're awesome live. I saw them back when they were supporting Chamberlain Waits and make an effort to see them every time they come around.

I really dig the vibes, lyrics, and especially the hooks of this album, but it is really unimaginative musically - like shockingly so. Pretty much every song is just big chunky power chord riff, basic drumming patterns, etc.

I love "Charlie's Army" and "House on Fire," but man I wish there was more going on in these songs. Like the other stuff I've heard from these guys is a lot more exciting instrumentally. The guy can write a god damn chorus for sure though.
