the trilogy is NOT the coolest thing Weezer has ever done.

I really find it completely meaningless anti-weezer filler brimming with false importance
I'd like to forget it exists but people insist on continually bringing it up

if the next album ("The Black Album" as we'll tentatively call it) goes dark I'm totally okay with that, I just don't want them to try and make another Pinkerton because that could be disastrous.

im rather ok with them doing this 'vintage weezer aesthetic meets main career pop sound' trend. its easily the best product of their first two and every subsequent album that failed to figure things out.
|

Pretty much as long as they stick to straightforward, guitar-oriented music they'll be fine.

this just in: Weezer abandons their guitars and makes an ambient electronic album called The White Noise Album

As long as it's:
-Super melodic
-Catchy as hell
-3 and a half to 4 minutes long
-Guitar-oriented with some sweet solos
-Got 1 'experimental' track that deviates from what you would usually expect (Futurescope, Thank God)
everything will be alright.

That last one isn't necessary but it helps

Yeah, the fact that the song was piano-driven and the falsetto in the chorus were out of the ordinary

"this just in: Weezer abandons their guitars and makes an ambient electronic album called The White Noise Album"
as long as it's completely instrumental that should be good

Well if I love the USA is any indication of the black album's sound then this is gonna get interesting
