never really dug mars volta but dont remember the vocalist being the issue. never listened to animal collective but jesus christ that clip you chose you may have a point.
this album is great in that sense of "holy shit they really did this??" but as far as pure enjoyability i find it a little lacking

Interesting - I'd put Disco Volante (with a posi spin) and a bunch of other Pattonstuffs (less positively) in that category, but always thought of this as that One Time it all came together with a load of (mostly) substantive song ideas?
Would jam Secret Chiefs 3 over Bungle 4 times out of 5 for my novelty-genre-mash fix though, which I guess gives this album an extra edge for not being purely that
