I'm not even trying hard not to like it, more on the contrary. It's far from an awful record, they are good at what they are doing. It just feels like i have heard that kind of band a zillion times already, not necessarily miles better or something, but enough to be pretty exhausted with that particular sound. However, I shouldn't really be surprised at the collective orgasm this record receives on this side, considering all the sputnik-love for bands like the dear hunter, brand new, manchester orchestra, explosions in the sky etc. All those bands did nothing for me, once the novelty effect wore off. Meh, tastes and stuff.....

Benjo: All nicely put, although not something I feel myself. Nice to see some well-written criticism instead of "sucks" or something like it

Well, for a start, the complete first LP of the unwinding hours and some songs of the second one would be a good recommendation for people enjoying TWBF. Granted, the singer has a much softer voice and their songs don't breathe that "folkish" spirit. However, they have structure and instrumentation on their louder tracks very alike TWBF and their often climactic songs, taking similar inspriation from Post-rock AND they are even from the same country. These two should give you a good insight:

unwinding hours have like 4 good songs and you linked two of them, go figure

I would recommend Aereogramme if I could. Sadly (or not so sadly), they sound nothing alike TWBF. Needless to say that Aereogramme > unwinding hours.

idk i think there's certainly a lot of My Heart Has a Wish influence still to be heard on TUH s/t at the very least

I wouldn't say because people like this, newcomers are trying hard not to like it. More so, the rating exposes the album to new listeners who may not be as inclined to like it.

@ InfamousGrouse: Actually, I like both LP's of TUH even a little more than My heart has a wish. What bothers me about the latter is that the added string sections sounds so plastic and out of place most of the time. I can definitley see the influence tho. However, nothing they have done later tops the first 2 LP's of Aereogramme (and the 1 EP).
