death metal takes a lot more time to digest, and generally isn't as good anyway

depends on where you're coming from though

wrong on both counts
if you've been into thrash dm will be really fucking easy to dig
bm with the lo-fi production and the vocals on other hand... second wave bm has that ~specific~ sound that none other metal genre has so can be hard to dig for some

I don't know if I even like DM anymore tbh.

yea dm is better as a whole
also the other way around for me Art and i haven't even listened to any thrash when i got into dm.

I'm real picky with death metal. Ulcerate, Deathspell, some melodeath for cheap thrills (Kalmah, ATG, Carcass, etc). I generally shy away from overtly aggressive music, so that's probably why folk/atmospheric black metal really gets me.
|
| |
i got into both around the same time as a kiddo
|
| |
Hard to compare dm and bm really, very different aesthetics and I like them for very different reasons

dm is the more consistent genre agreed folks
|
| |
yo that wasn't my intention, I was just saying I personally can't pick a favourite between the two genres
|
| |
dm is more consistent yea but bm at its best has higher highs for me.
